ZINK Instant Printer

April 16, 2008 | Lance, Personal Blogs

I am a big tech/gadget head and am always coming across cool little items. I thought that this one may interest a lot of you folks that come to our site.
There is a new instant printing technology that is ink free and self contained . It is based on a paper technology that is an advanced composite material with cyan, yellow, and magenta dye crystals embedded inside and a protective polymer overcoat layer outside, created by ZINK (www.zink.com).

The printers for this paper are going to marketed through partners such as Polaroid,Alps and others.

One in particular that caught my eye was the Polaroid model (polaroid printer). The unit should sell for under $200. Cost per print is estimated at $3.99 for 10 pack and $30.99 for 30 pack of paper. Polaroid ZINK printer

Here are some specs:

• 2” x 3” borderless, sticky-back prints
• Bluetooth, PictBridge compatible
• Smudge-proof, water-resistant, tear-proof photos
• Fade-resistant, long-lasting images
• No waste – no ink cartridges
• Prints in about 60 seconds
• Rechargeable lithium-ion battery

So now you can snap pictures with your cell phones and make prints for people right away!

There was also a nice article on this in the New York Times on Monday, April 14,2008 (article)
