Two Arca Swiss Cubes
November 24, 2009 | Doug
The Arca Swiss Cube is the world’s finest (and most expensive) photographic tripod head. Only those truly dedicated to their art/passion/work would invest in one. So why would you need two??
Well, I wrote an article, mostly for fun, over at getdpi.com (read the article) about why you would need two.
Big thanks to Charles Brown, one of our very talented customers, and a forum member of getdpi.com for the photo of the setup below.

Zacuto Audio
November 24, 2009 | Doug
Capture Integration recently became a dealer for Zacuto products, a company specializing in audio/video accessories for doing motion work with dSLRs. We are extremely interested in the trend towards dual-purposing cameras like the Canon 5D mark II as both still and video systems.
As such we’ve been doing our homework. In the course of which Chris Lawery came across this great video.

LaCie 4Big Quadras
November 20, 2009 | News, Steve
Capture Integration sells LaCie
Capture Integration is now an authorized Value Add dealer for LaCie products. Included in the LaCie product line are the 4Big Quadra RAID boxes. These are very sophisticated yet user friendly 4 drive enclosures that come in standard 2TB, 4TB, 6TB and 8TB configurations and can be scaled to 32TB’s.
The 4Big Quadras utilize a quiet, fanless cooling system, offer 7 configurable RAID modes at the flick of a switch, and burst transfer rates up to 230MB/s.The drives are hot swappable and are capable of rebuilding without interrupting operation, meaning they can rebuild while you continue to use the drives.
Why LaCie?
There are numerous hard drive manufacturers and many hard drive solution providers. At Capture Integration our primary objective is providing the best performing solutions to our customers that also provide the best response to customer issues. As a Value Add Dealer for LaCie, Capture Integration has direct line access to advanced (upper tier) technical support, and issues and turnaround are handled expediently as a result.
Also, LaCie is not a fly‐by‐night company. Their primary target markets are users of high end storage and high end displays. They are a well‐established, successful company that will be here tomorrow. And the products have become increasingly reliable and sophisticated.
Your Storage Strategy
Capture Integration specializes in assisting photographers with clear, executable storage and backup strategies. RAID plays a very important part in that. One of the primary benefits to RAID is improved reliability. RAID 6 is capable of withstanding simultaneous 2 drive failures. And RAID technology allows higher capacity than individual drives. This means an easier workflow for backing up. With fewer drives, a better workflow is easier to manage.
Larger drive solutions with more available capacity read/write faster than a smaller drive which has less remaining room on the drive. The LaCie RAID solutions offer premium read/write performance, and many photographers use them as primary working drives. In short, more capacity means more free space, fewer drives to manage, and better performance and easier backup as a result.

Two models will be helping us spreading holiday cheer.

What its all about………
November 11, 2009 | Dave
Do you work to live or live to work?
It’s a simple answer on my end. If I were asked what my favorite word was in the English language, it would take me seconds to pronounce “dad”. After reading Ralph Waldo Emerson as a young adult I have never been the same. These words keep me grounded. I pull them out and read them after a tedious day or a particularly bad month of business. They remind me of all that I have to be thankful for and help me focus on the incredible gift I have been given ….. the privilege of being a husband and a father.
To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Hard Fall At Waterfall Has Lessons
November 11, 2009 | Atlanta, News
One of Capture Integration’s good customers, Ed Cooley, recently found himself in a great deal of danger when shooting in Ozark National Forest. Ed was out shooting the falls for the opening of his gallery, when he took a fall off of a 30′+ cliff breaking his collar bone, pelvis and right leg. Luckily Ed had a SPOT beacon with him that could send a message out for help.
To follow more about Ed’s story please follow the links below to read and see more about his endeavors.

Capture One 5 Pro Upgrade Costs
November 3, 2009 | Uncategorized
Capture One 5 Pro was released last week. While Capture Integration is still evaluating it for use in production environments the new feature set is drawing a lot of attention and we’re receiving a lot of calls asking what it costs to upgrade. The answer is that it depends on what version you purchased. For some users it is free, for others it is a $99 upgrade, and still others will need to purchase a normal copy at $399.
Note that this article only concerns those wishing to use Capture One 5 Pro. The non Pro version of Capture One 5 has a different set of upgrade costs.
Free Upgrades for Capture One Pro 3 Owners
Many users who purchased Capture One Pro 3 will find they can upgrade to Capture One Pro 5 for free. This is because Capture One Pro 3 was sold for $499 which included two free upgrades (version 4 and version 5). The easiest way of determining if you can upgrade for free is to go to PhaseOne.com > My Account, then License Management, then select your license.
If the page then says “Free Activations Remaining: 1″ then you can upgrade to Capture One Pro 5 for free.
$99 Upgrade for Capture One Pro 4 Owners
Capture One Pro 4 was sold for $399 ($100 less than Capture One Pro 5) and did NOT include free upgrades. Owners of a Capture One Pro 4 license can upgrade to Capture One 5 Pro for $99. If you buy through Capture Integration you’ll receive 10% off.
$299 Upgrade for Capture One (Non Pro) Owners
If you own a license for Capture One, the non professional version, then you can upgrade to the professional version for $299. Read about the differences between Capture One and Capture One Pro. You can purchase this upgrade through Capture Integration and receive 10% off.
$299 Upgrade for Capture One Leica Owners
If you received Capture One as part of a Leica purchase (e.g. an M8 with C1 Leica bundled) then you can upgrade to the professional version for $299. Read about the differences between Capture One and Capture One Pro. You can purchase this upgrade through Capture Integration and receive 10% off.
$399 for First Time buyers
If you’ve never purchased Capture One before then the full version price is $399. If you purchase through Capture Integration you’ll receive 10% off.
