Leica S2 First Impressions

I wanted to share some of my first impressions of the Leica S2. Jorge Alvarez , www.alvarezphoto.com had been waiting to test the Leica S2 since it was first announced over a year ago. Jorge asked his stylist and hair/make up crew to put together clothes and props for several different looks. The clothes and accessories were provided by DRESSED HAUTE http://www.dressedhaute.com/ and Michelle Cain Sebastian provided hair/makeup. Jorge selected model Lane Lindell for the test.
Jorge was very impressed with the size and ergonomics of the camera. He liked the way it fit in his hand. As he setup and shot the first image, he loved the feel that the lens had when focusing. Very smooth and very precise. Jorge prefers to use a normal lens for most of his fashion and catalog work . All of the images below were captured with the Leica S2, 70mm Lens, 1/125 @ F 8.0.
As he shot the camera, he was able to burst and shoot at a speed that he was used to. What Jorge was most impressed with is how easy the camera was to focus and get the shot he was looking for. He also preferred to use Capture 5 as his primary workflow. While he edited images and adjusted the contrast and density, he kept saying how smooth the tonal range was as he moved the end points.
Jorge was very impressed with the Leica S2 camera system. He is looking forward to seeing what Leica has to offer on the wide angle and tilt shift capabilities in the future. He also loves using his Phase One back on a Cambo Wide for his Architectural projects.
