Pro Bono P65+ work at the Neighboorhood School
June 13, 2010 | Dave
I live in downtown Atlanta. Two of my children go to a local charter school. Charter schools are privately run primary and secondary schools that receive partial public and partial private funding. The positive aspect of these schools are that the community decides on curriculum, scheduling, and management and are not held to the regulations of state run public schools. The negative aspect is that it takes quite of bit of outside funding to make up for the shortfall of financial backing. The positives dramatically outweigh the negatives in regards to inner city schools and by doing so there is a lottery system in order to be accepted. But lets get back to the reason for this post… : ) Charter schools REQUIRE each parent to volunteer a certain amount of hours per child and we have TWO! Needless to say my wife spends more time volunteering than I do. So when I heard of the chance to shoot the annual school photo, I jumped in to do my part.
So what do you use to shoot a 300 child group photo? Heck, a 60mp P65+ of course, what else would anyone use? As you can see the shoot went as smooth as it possible could with that many squirming adolescents. And I have to admit that the results were outstanding. It is incredible to see all the amazing detail of each child at this distance. And even more so, it is a joy to view each individual’s personality by their expressions. I loved this so much that I just thought I had to share it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Monitor Shoot out
Ever wonder why one 24″ monitor sells for $900 and another monitor of the same size can be more than twice that cost? Of course you can read all the marketing BS from each manufacturer and try to disseminate the truth from the reality yourself. Each manufacturer will tell you why they have the better specifications, tolerances, and value. But who do you trust? This is easy for us…………………
We trust nobody! This may sound harsh but it is how we have to be at Capture Integration. Our reputation is more important than any quick sale. Our customers come to us from all over the world because of this reputation. Comparing digital capture results are not easy but they are dramatically easier than comparing multiple monitors and conveying that info over the internet. This is something that just has to be done in person. If you are in the area, give us a call and make an appointment to see the latest technologies in monitors at either our Miami or Atlanta offices. Seeing is believing.

The Brands of Capture Integration
April 20, 2010 | Dave, News, Promotion
Capture Integration has always been known as the experts in the marketplace for the Phase One and Capture One product lines. Of course, this is still the case. However, we are also a full photographic systems integrator. Since our business does not fit the mold of the old style counter and showroom photographic dealer, it is easy to not think of us as such. Our main products are listed on the header and footer of our website, but here is another list of the many of the manufacturers we represent as well. We are full line dealers of these products and know them as well as anyone else in the field.
Did you know we also sell the following brands?
Did you know that we are one of the only distributors of Cambo in the States?
Did you know that we are price competitive on all Apple Products?
Did you know that we are the leading seller of Arca Swiss Cubes?
Did you know that we currently have Leica M9 and S2 in stock and rental?

Please give us a call or drop us a line if we can help with any photographic product you have interest in!

“The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten” – Benjamin Franklin
March 31, 2010 | Dave
Quality: “a degree or grade of excellence or worth.” Have we devalued the concept of “quality” as a society? Have we given in to this “good enough” idea of cheap quality and low price in all facets of life? And if we do accept this as a part of the world we live in, aren’t there areas where we will just not tolerate it?
Is it acceptable:
- To be a “good enough” parent or spouse?
- To be a “good enough” teacher?
- To have a “good enough” surgical procedure?
- To use a “good enough” parachute
I know some things seem a little extreme, but it definitely poses the question of where do you draw the line? Is it at home, at work, in our career, with our health? And I would have to pose this question to many out there in our field. Are we not trying to create the best image possible or are we just trying to satisfy the job at hand? For my imagery, I am often disappointed when I look back at an image where I used the easy tool rather than the right tool for the job.
And as for my business, being a “good enough” partner that supplies “good enough” customer care and tech support is not acceptable. Would you accept it? I hope not and I hope that if you feel that we have dropped our “quality” levels for any reason that you would let me know as soon as you can so that we can fix the problem. When you buy from Capture Integration you should expect the highest level of support, care, and knowledge possible in our industry as the words “good enough” are not spoken here.

December 31, 2009 | Dave, News
Its 7:30PM and I am closing down the company for 2009. We made it through the hardest year of business in my lifetime and we are still healthy at it’s finale. I am thankful for more people than I can list. I have a team that isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty and will work long hours. They don’t complain about the extra time we put in to make sure that the product and service is at the level that our customers demand. They are our backbone and I am proud to be associated with each and every one of them. I have customers who are loyal and honest. Your support this year has let us keep doing what we love. And I have a family and spouse who understands my stress and the long hours necessary to create something so unique and superior in our industry. Thank you everyone. I am more appreciative than you know.
Happy 2010!

Giving a little back this season………

Help Portrait
A few weeks ago, Jason Fobart of APA Atlanta, contacted me and asked me if I could help with a charity project here in the inner city. Living downtown and having our business based here, I feel a strong connection to the people I see everyday on the streets that we share. During the year we do a little here and there where we can, but this was a chance to bring some joy into a few lives that really could use a boost. When Jason explained the cause and what the organization was trying to accomplish on an international level we jumped in with both feet and offered as much as we could possibly do to help with this cause. I can go on and on in words to describe this day but I think that it is better to watch it in video.

About Help Portrait Across the World
Sometimes it is easy take so much for granted in our lives. I asked one young man why his address wasn’t filled out and he stated that he didn’t know his Mom’s address. I dialed his mom’s number and handed him my phone. When the line picked up I heard the joy in his voice ” Hi mom! It’s me James…… yes…… yes……. I am doing fine…….” The conversation went on but I didn’t want to eavesdrop. But the tone of James’ voice said it all. It was what we were trying achieve here that day. Photographers using their talents to provide a little bit of joy, pride, or hope this holiday. I want to thank all those who “let” us give them something on Saturday, because in return……….. they gave us so much more.

What its all about………
November 11, 2009 | Dave
Do you work to live or live to work?
It’s a simple answer on my end. If I were asked what my favorite word was in the English language, it would take me seconds to pronounce “dad”. After reading Ralph Waldo Emerson as a young adult I have never been the same. These words keep me grounded. I pull them out and read them after a tedious day or a particularly bad month of business. They remind me of all that I have to be thankful for and help me focus on the incredible gift I have been given ….. the privilege of being a husband and a father.
To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded
Ralph Waldo Emerson

I founded Capture Integration with the idea that we didn’t need to follow the rules. If you know me, then you understand this completely! Proper customer service, personal attention to details, and a normal respect for the customer was missing in our region as well as our high end marketplace. Remembering these key principles and incorporating into our daily lives seemed like common sense but it is lacking in so many businesses today. Thus, I threw out all the ideas of what a “camera store” or “photo dealer” were and I created something so much more.
Saying it is one thing, but it was important to me that I instilled this attitude throughout the company. I have been extremely fortunate to have found the right mix of people that not only understood this concept but have been able to take it to the next level. I have the privilege to work with the some of the finest people that I have ever met in life, never mind in our industry. Their priorities in life are on target. If you don’t know them personally, I highly suggest getting to know them. You won’t regret it.

Leica S2 – Will We Sell It?
The Leica S2 has created a huge buzz since it was announced at Photokina. We’ve had many customers call since it’s announcement to ask if we would be selling the Leica S2.
Capture Integration only carries products we have complete confidence in. We do not sell based on marketing materials and technical specifications; we sell based on proven results and exceptional quality. When there is a final S2 production unit is ready with tethering capabilities and working output, we will jump at the chance to put it through it’s paces at our testing lab. If the testing shows the S2 is a product that we can be fully confident in and will live up to the high quality that we expect out of a product at this price point, then we will begin recommending and selling it. You can be sure that regardless of what we decide it will be based on our honest and considered opinion.
