What type of warranty is offered?

One warranty covers both your body, your Phase One or Schneider lenses and your digital back. That means total piece of mind for the photographer.

Do I have to have a “paired” backup body?

Some other digital back brands require that the body and back be “paired” together electronically. This means that with other camera systems you may need to send your system into the factory in order to order a backup or replacement body. With the Phase One DF body you can purchase a body separately at any time. In addition you could purchase a Phase One AF, or Mamiya AFD3, AFD 2, or AFD1  as a less expensive backup body with full compatibility. For instance excellent condition AFD1 bodies are often available through Capture Integration for less than $700 (call for availability and exact pricing).

Is the Phase One DF Camera an Open Platform?

Absolutely! Phase One believes that creativity is nurtured by freedom. The Phase One 645 is an open platform system maximizing choice. Besides the Phase One / Schneider Leaf Shutter Lenses all Phase One and  Mamiya 645 Digital, AFD, and MF lenses are supported. Additional choices include Hasselblad V-series lenses with more multi-mount options being developed for future release. In the spirit of openness the Phase One 645 Camera is compatible with any digital back using the Mamiya 645 AF body mount. No restrictions!

Will Phase One continue to support other bodies besides the new Phase One branded body?

Absolutely. Phase One is dedicate to providing solutions on a variety of platforms. Phase One backs can be used with dozens of camera setups. In fact, Phase One has gone one step further to offer a body-swap guarantee. With the purchase of a Value Added Warranty, Phase One will guarantee the availability of a replacement camera body should yours need to be repaired. Contact us for more details.

Does the new body offer faster flash sync speeds? Will it use lenses with leaf shutters?

Phase One has partnered with Schneider to provide a line of extremely high quality leaf shutter lenses. The first three lenses in this new lens line to be produced are 50mm f/2.8, 80mm f/2.8, and 110mm f/2.8. Over time this lens line will be expanded.
