2022 Scottish Isles Expedition with Julian Calverley
If you know Capture Integration, then you know that one of our favorite photographers in the world is Julian Calverley. Very few photographers reach “iconic” status, meaning that one look of an image tells the educated viewer exactly who the creator is. Julian is one of those few photographers! Not only is he amazingly talented and creative in his art, but he is also one of the most genuine people that you will ever meet. CI has brought Julian to the US twice for tremendously successful workshops and it is finally time for us to travel across the pond and experience Julian’s backyard, as only he can present. We have been wanting to offer this expedition for years and we are so excited to finally offer this to just 6 CI customers!
This exclusive and intensive workshop is tailored for those wanting to further develop their photographic skills in some of the world’s most amazing island locations, under the guidance of our close friend and customer. With Julian as our guide, we will experience “off the beaten path” locations while refining & developing your approach to the photographic process. The workshop will provide a challenging experience in the location with hiking and terrain. Visualize 3 Land Rovers crossing the rugged Scottish countryside with Julian, myself, and one other driver leading you through the photographic tour of a lifetime.
We will also enjoy exemplary food and wine specific to the region throughout our trek. And importantly, we will have an abundance of time allocated for camaraderie, discussions, and debates on the principles, philosophy, and aesthetics of photography. Are you as excited as I am? Looking forward to the adventure, won’t you join us?

Isle of Skye:
Skye is a wonderfully dramatic & picturesque island located off the west coast of Scotland that has been voted ‘the 4th best island in the world by National Geographic magazine. It’s a place of extremes, from the craggy outline of the Cuillin to the sheer cliffs and imposing headlands that descend to peaceful bays & beaches. The photographic opportunities it offers are both varied and stunning.
Isle of Harris:
Harris & Lewis is one island accessed by ferry from Skye. It is a location full of history – the neolithic standing stones at Callanish are older than Stonehenge – and the landscapes offer tremendous variety, from high mountains to deeply indented sea lochs, coastal islands, rocky coves, and beautiful white sandy beaches. It is a wonderful location providing space, peace, tranquility, and photographs aplenty.
March 4th-13th 2022
We will collect participants from Inverness airport on March 4th and then travel to our base on Skye – the magnificent Cuillin Hills Hotel with its fantastic views across Portree Bay. We will stay on Skye for 5 nights visiting locations such as The Quirang, Neist Point, the Fairy Pools in Glen Brittle, Sligachan, and Loch Coruisk. On day 6 we will catch the ferry to Harris and Lewis where we stay at the Hotel Hebrides in Tarbert for 3 nights. Our relatively short time on Haris & Lewis will be spent making the most of the photographic opportunities at locations such as Luskentyre, Seilebost, Traigh Iar, Huisinis, and of course the historic standing stones at Callanish. We will leave for the return ferry across to the Isle of Skye on the morning of the 12th March where we will spend our final night back at the Cuillin Hills Hotel.
