What type of warranty is offered?

The extension of the Phase One Classic and Value Added warranties to a body and lens means total piece of mind for the photographer.

Is the Phase One 645 Camera an Open Platform?

Absolutely! Phase One believes that creativity is nurtured by freedom. The Phase One 645 is an open platform system maximizing choice. Besides the Phase One 80mm f2.8 lens, all Mamiya Sekor 645 Digital, AFD, and MF lenses are supported. Additional choices include Hasselblad V-series lenses with more multi-mount options being developed for future release. In the spirit of openness the Phase One 645 Camera is compatible with any digital back using the Mamiya 645 AF body mount. No restrictions!

Will Phase One continue to support other bodies besides the new Phase One branded body?

Absolutely. Phase One is dedicate to providing solutions on a variety of platforms. Phase One backs can be used with dozens of camera setups. In fact, Phase One has gone one step further to offer a body-swap guarantee. With the purchase of a Value Added Warranty, Phase One will guarantee the availability of a replacement camera body should yours need to be repaired. Contact us for more details.

Does the new body offer faster flash sync speeds? Will it use lenses with leaf shutters?

Phase One and Mamiya have committed to providing lenses with leaf shutters “in 2008″ as a response to the need for higher speed flash syncing. The Phase One 645AF will be compatible with these leaf shutter lenses. No additional information is available at this time. Note that there is an adapter to use Hasselblad V lenses (included with a Value Added warranty, available at additional cost otherwise). However this adapter keeps the len’s leaf shutter open and uses the camera body’s focal plane shutter to control exposure and so is subject to the same flash sync speed.

When will the Phase One 645 be available/shipping?

Based on a first-ordered-first-shipped queue, Phase One 645 bodies and 80mm lenses ordered will begin shipping in May. Bodies and lenses ordered separately will be shipped starting in August.

What will the Phase One 645 / Phase One 80mm lens cost?

By itself the Phase One 645 and Phase One 80mm lens will be $4,990 with a classic warranty or $7,990 with a value added warranty. The body and lens will also be available as a bundle.
