Where Medium Format Expertise Meets Exceptional Service

Why decades of experience, technical expertise, and professional relationships make Capture Integration different.
If two photographic dealers offer you exactly the same $50,000 camera system at exactly the same price, does it really matter which dealer you purchase it from?
After more than four decades in the professional photographic industry, I can tell you that it absolutely does.
And the reasons have surprisingly little to do with the camera itself.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the world’s most respected photographic equipment manufacturers, including Sinar, broncolor, Foba, Hasselblad, and Phase One.
One thing I’ve learned over those years is that there’s a significant difference between selling professional photographic equipment and truly understanding professional photography.
Today, purchasing a professional camera system is easier than ever. A few clicks on a website can put tens of thousands of dollars of sophisticated equipment on your doorstep.
But knowing which equipment is right for your application, understanding how the various components work together, and having knowledgeable support when something goes wrong are equally important considerations.
And that’s where I believe Capture Integration distinguishes itself.
A Team Built on Decades of Experience

One of the things that makes Capture Integration unusual is the professional background of the people who work here.
Many of us spent significant portions of our careers working directly for leading photographic equipment manufacturers.
For most of us, professional photography hasn’t simply been a career. It’s been a lifelong passion.
We’ve witnessed the transition from film to digital photography, participated in the introduction of groundbreaking imaging technologies, and worked directly with photographers who depend on these systems to earn their living.
Some of us were working with professional digital imaging systems long before digital photography became mainstream. We’ve watched technologies emerge, evolve, and occasionally disappear.
That experience gives us a perspective that goes well beyond understanding the specifications listed in a manufacturer’s brochure.
There’s a big difference between knowing what a camera is capable of doing and understanding what a photographer actually needs it to do.
And perhaps most importantly, we’ve learned that the newest or most expensive equipment isn’t necessarily the best solution for every photographer.
We’re Not Just Coworkers. We’re Longtime Colleagues.

Another aspect of Capture Integration that I find particularly interesting is how long many of us have known and worked with one another.
Dave Gallagher and I first worked together at Sinar Bron Imaging back in 1995. We continued working together in various capacities until he founded Capture Integration in 2004. His company subsequently became my largest dealer/integrator for both Hasselblad and Phase One, and our professional relationship eventually came full circle when I joined Capture Integration in 2023.
I also worked extensively with Steve Hendrix during our time at Sinar Bron Imaging. We later worked together again when Steve was with Professional Photographic Resources in Atlanta, before he eventually joined Capture Integration.
My professional relationship with Murray Elliott goes back more than 20 years, beginning when he worked at Global Imaging and continuing through his time running his own business, Mega Pixel Digital.
These aren’t simply people I work with. They’re colleagues whose knowledge, judgment, and professional integrity I’ve trusted for decades.
Other members of our team share similar histories.
Why is that important?
Because there’s a tremendous advantage to working with people whose experience and professional integrity you’ve trusted for years.
We understand one another’s strengths, communicate effectively, and aren’t hesitant to draw on another team member’s expertise when a customer’s application requires it.
And after spending decades in a relatively small industry, we’ve learned that professional reputations matter. Those reputations were built through years of experience, integrity, and earning the trust of photographers and manufacturers alike.
Rather than operating as individuals competing for sales, we work together toward a common objective: finding the best possible solution for our customers.

Michael J. Moore, a Capture Integration customer since 2010, describes the value of those relationships:
“I have been a CI customer since 2010, and I’ve truly enjoyed getting to know Dave and the entire CI team. Whenever I have needed new equipment or even just an answer to a technical question, it’s nice to be able to pick up the phone confident you’re going to speak with someone who cares about you and your business.”

We Ask Questions Before We Recommend Equipment
Here’s something that might surprise people who haven’t worked with Capture Integration.
When someone contacts us about purchasing a camera system, we’re often more interested in asking questions than immediately recommending equipment.
In fact, we may ask so many questions that customers occasionally wonder whether we’re ever going to get around to selling them something!
But there’s a reason for that.
Before recommending a solution, we want to understand the photographer’s application, expectations, and existing equipment.
We typically begin with questions such as:
- What type of photography are you doing, and what equipment are you currently using?
- What limitations are you experiencing with your existing system?
- What are your expectations regarding image quality, resolution, workflow, and budget?
- Most importantly, what are you trying to accomplish that your current equipment cannot do?
The answers to those questions are often far more important than the specifications of the latest camera.
A photographer considering a Phase One digital back, for example, might benefit from an entirely different solution depending on whether they’re photographing architecture, fine art, products, or cultural heritage collections.
Sometimes the right recommendation is a completely new system. Other times, it might involve upgrading a single component or extending the capabilities of equipment the photographer already owns.
And occasionally, the best advice might be that a customer doesn’t need to purchase anything at all.
Our objective isn’t simply to sell someone a camera. It’s to help them make the right investment.
After all, recommending equipment is easy. Recommending the right equipment requires understanding the photographer and the application.
Technical Support Is Part of the Solution
Anyone who has worked professionally with digital photographic equipment understands that technology doesn’t always cooperate.
Software conflicts, firmware issues, tethering problems, and unexpected hardware failures have an uncanny ability to occur at the worst possible times.
And when you’re on a commercial assignment with a client, art director, and production crew waiting, resolving those problems quickly becomes critically important.
This is another area where Capture Integration’s experience becomes particularly valuable.
Our technical support team, led by Brad Kaye, possesses extensive knowledge of the equipment and software we represent, along with the diagnostic experience needed to troubleshoot even the most complicated problems.
Brad is the expert the experts call when they need help.

More importantly, our technical support philosophy is based on helping customers find solutions rather than simply directing them elsewhere.
We understand that lost shooting time can mean lost revenue, missed deadlines, and unhappy clients.
That’s why our commitment to customers doesn’t end when the equipment ships. We remain available to provide technical assistance, answer questions, and help photographers adapt as their businesses and equipment needs evolve.
The true value of technical support isn’t necessarily measured by how often you need it. Sometimes it’s measured by how quickly you can get back to work when something goes wrong.
Patrick Ross shared an example of the lengths Capture Integration has gone to support his photographic business:
“Capture Integration is the most professional, selfless and cohesive organization that I have ever worked with in my life. They have saved me on shoots with software issues, hand delivered equipment to manufacturers internationally that I have damaged and have made selfless sacrifices getting me the new equipment that I needed in an unprecedentedly fast fashion. If all organizations functioned in this way, the world would be a much brighter, happier and better place.”

I particularly like this testimonial because it illustrates something that can be difficult to communicate in a product description or sales presentation.
You can read additional customer experiences on our Client Testimonials page.
Exceptional customer service isn’t simply about answering the phone. It’s about what happens after you answer it.
So, What Makes Capture Integration Different?
If you’ve read this far, you may have noticed that I’ve spent very little or no time discussing the specifications or features of the equipment we sell.
That’s intentional.
After all, many of the cameras, digital backs, lenses, and lighting systems we represent are available through other authorized dealers.
The difference isn’t necessarily the equipment. It’s the people behind it.

At Capture Integration, we’ve spent our careers working in professional photography, developing relationships, solving technical problems, and helping photographers find the right equipment for their applications.
We’re not simply salespeople. We’re industry veterans, technical specialists, and problem solvers who happen to sell some of the finest photographic equipment available.
After my many years in the industry, I’ve learned that while photographic technology continues to evolve, the importance of experience, expertise, and professional relationships never changes.
The camera might be the same. The people behind it aren’t.
And that’s what makes Capture Integration different.
